I feel she simply does not have the experience required. It is a near impossible mission for any woman running to walk the balance between presenting yourself
as strong. I woman has to downplay the emotional side of herself without seeming cold. I do feel that her Downs Syndrome baby is being exploited. Raising a
Downs Syndrome baby (I'm positive she has a nanny), makes anyone a hero. The very nature of his condition and his age would prohibit me as a mother from
bringing him to a convention center. The sensory stimulation would seem overwhelming.
I am not a fan of putting a pregnant 17 year old on a stage and applauding her either. This particular 17 year old is not typical. Her babies upbringing will also not be typical, yet they have her on a stage as if she represents all of those young mothers who have decided that being 17 and pregnant is OK and that keeping the baby is the couragous thing to do. Sometimes giving up a baby at 17 is the couragous thing to do. I think Gloria Steinem said it best. Intelligent women will not vote for Sarah mistaking form for content. She delivers a good speech with no content. I feel this a a slap in the face of seasoned women who do lack the ability to run this country. Why was Condy overlooked? I appreciate so much what John McCain endured as a POV. That's about it. Cindy McCains outfit for one night cost $315,000.00. We'd have so much to talk about, so much in common with the women in America. I can't actually say I don't like Sarah, I don't know who she is, never heard of her before in my life. I can hardly wait for the debate between her and Biden. Maybe she will impress me then. The more I see of her, the more I understand why she was picked. She has the most to exploit. The implication is that if you don't like her, you are anti teen pregnancy and anti right to life to include her adorable baby. These things are facts of life for many. I feel it falls in line that unless you support the war, you aren't patriotic. That you don't support our troops. She's a woman, big deal. She is not nearly ready to run a country. My real issue is that she thinks she is. |

I agree with everything you said. Everything.
Every time I see her, I'm offended on many levels. |

I meant to say women who do have the ability to run this country. The only children that were really highlighted were the ones with some kind of exploitation
factor. I think if Hillary had been selected as Obamas running mate, we would still have never heard of Palin. Going down in history as the first female Vice
president seems like it would be a humbling thing and this woman is acting entitled to it. I don't appreciate her arogance. Like him or not, Obama was
raised by a single mother and graduated from Havard, he deserves respect for his place in history and everytime she mentions his name or makes reference she
does so like a cat spitting up a hairball. I'm sure that other world leaders who look for the United States vulnerabilities would love to see this woman
elected. I'm not really understanding why being deamed a maverick is considered to be a qualification or an asset. If anything, I'd like a candidate
who is composed and educated. she just seems like a smartass.
She attended five colleges to receive a bachelors degree in communication? I'm looking and I'm not finding a thing that impresses me about her. |

Almost verbatim, I've been ranting about those same observations to my husband every time I see her on TV. She's very, VERY snide and lacks any type of sophistication I'd like to see from a leader that represents the United States. THIS woman does not represent me--not at all. Can you see her sitting down with another Country's leader? It's embarrassing. Whether she likes him or not, Obama has made history in a very distinguished and composed way...to demean him for that is nothing short of ignorance. Believe me, I am not a fan of Hillary Clinton, but I DO respect her and think very highly of her even though I may not "like" her...this woman is not the caliber of person in any regard that Hillary is...all I can think whenever I hear this Palin character speak is...just....yuck...

Off subject, but I've been meaning to ask...
How much did that beautiful mirror end up auctioning off for? I'm sure it was $$$$$$$$$$ |

I never heard any thing about the mirror. I'm sure it was a horrible oversight that no onelet me know, I'm not sure how that works. Maybe donations are
just accepted as donations. I will email and ask. I wil let you know.

I watched most of the interview Palin had with Charlie Gibson.....she didnt answer ANY of his questions. He would even say, "But you didnt answer my
question....I asked you....." and AGAIN she wouldnt answer the question. Those days they hid her away to coach her sure worked....she isnt going to say
ANYTHING that is going to cause a problem. Problem is all THAT does is make her look silly.
My brother gave me a copy of an e-mail he got from a friend who has a buddy that has lived in AK for 30 years....the guy cant STAND her. To quote part of the e-mail... "Sarah......has no relevent experience and no substance. She was mayor of Wasilla, a bedroom community of Anchorage, essentially, which has been the butt of jokes for as long as I can remember. (Oh, I think she was also Miss Wasilla and in the PTA) Her performance in the debates for the gubernatorial election was pathetic. Can you imagine her representing this country in discussions with the likes of Vladimir Putin? Sure, she has an 80% approval rating in AK. Howdy Doody would have similar ratings if he had the good fortune to be in office when the price of oil went from $40/bbl to over $100/bbl. She has neither the wisdom nor the insight to be the govenor of a......state like AK, and she is overly reliant on cabinet members who have their OWN agendas. She will be exposed for what she is the first time she speaks without being scripted." |

I enjoyed the first Presidential debate very much. I'm looking forward to Thursdays vice presidential debate.
I am reminded of those rich snotty kids who always took their toys and went home if they couldn't make all the rules to the game and yet, they were always the first to point a finger and tattle when any negative attention or accountability came to them. I guess we are all "niave", if we question a $700 billion dollar bailout. It takes a real coconut to accuse a Harvard graduate of not knowing the difference between a strategy and a tactic. It is probably my viking nature coming out again but if my son were in Iraq or Afhganistan, I'd say John, the yellow magnetic ribbon on the ass of your car and the 10 cent rubber braclets appear to be props. I truly sat down to listen to this debate wanting to walk away feeiling some sense of confidence. I heard about McCanes long time Washington friendships and felt like I should bow my head every time Reagans name came up. (too many times). McCane keeps stating he's a maverick. I don't want a maverick for my President. If he wants to be a maverick, he should buy a pony and go clear brush with Bush down in Crawford. I think Sarah cooked her own goose in the Katie Couric interview. So......I was forced to put a sign in my yard. "Sarah Palin does not represent this working woman". I feel a greater and greater need to seperate myself from this woman who is making all intelligent women embarrassed. She can see Russia from her house. Well, I have a creek in the back yard, that doesn't make me qualified to run the Navy. |

In regard to the bail out, I'm still not sure where this money is supposed to be coming from. It feels a bit (make that very much) panicky to me in a
"let's hurry up and panic the public so we can do what we want and no one has time to ask questions...you know, like we did with Iraq!"
|

Comparing the bailout to Iraq? | ||

Whatever.
The bailout is ridiculously ignorant and stupid. How anyone could support this is beyond me. Welcome to the People's Republic of the United States. |

Thankfully, the bailout got rejected...

I never even thought of it before Sandy, but you are right--we hardly get any credit card offers either. I remember a few years ago when we'd get TONS of
them.
Things are sure a mess right now and I don't think we've seen the worst of it yet. On a completely unrelated note, it seems I will be going to a confernce in New York at the end of May next year...I'm wondering if maybe Timber would like to come meet me one night for a dinner and a show? Sandy, I'm not sure where you live but if you'd like to come out, I'd love to meet you in person too... Hubby isn't coming with me because there's nothing for him to do all day while I'm at the conference, but I'll have evenings free... |

That would be fun. As it gets closer, we'll see what the possibilities are. May is a good time for me.

I find is almost amusing that McCane seems to continually reduce everyone resistance to this bailout as a matter of us being naive or lacking understanding.
It's insulting. I think the American people have had it with this mentality where we act now, fast, and think later. I think the average working American
is acutely aware of the situation. I think the urgency comes as a plea from the 12% ers who call on us to save them.
Who on Wall Street has lost their home to forclosure? Good bye golden parachute, hello tent city. The desperate call of the average working American went unheard, as a consequence, they went deaf. If you have already lost your job and your home, how important is the bailout to you? |

Sounds good.
For now, we'll sit back and see how this election stuff goes... I can't stand President Bush--he has to be the worst President we've ever had. The last thing we need is more of the (cough McCain cough) same. |
