Wolf, what's actually 'sad' is the fact that you obviously cannot see that an entire country, and an entire world in many respects has gotten 'so worked up' over the idea of hope and of optimism. I was ½ asleep last night with the TV on and I heard one of the newscasters comment on how this has shattered the glass ceiling and opened the doors of opportunity for a whole new group of ideas and thoughts and skills that for the most part have previously gone untapped. I think that, in and of itself warrants a sense of optimism in people. I don't have a problem admitting that I am worked up over this. I am hopeful and optimistic because of the results of this election, and by seeing what can be accomplished when people wake up and decide to stand together. I even cried tears of joy and I'm not ashamed to say it. I'm sure I'm not the only one. For more reasons than any of us know, this is a monumental moment in our country's history and it means so many different things to different people. It's sad that you're so close-minded you don't recognize any of that. Off to work now…..

I, myself got two young people interested in the election who had never voted before--it may not sound like much, but in reality, it's huge.

Posts: 1013 (11/05/08 10:38:50) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Aside from my initial trip to the polling place to cast my own vote, I made 3 additional trips, as a volunteer to drive neighbors/members of my community who had no other means of transportation. I wasn't the only person doing this. I don't know, OR care who most of them voted for, but I do know 3 acknowledged being first time voters (and none were necessarily young). That's another thing that is refreshing about this particular election, people actually know this time around their vote mattered.

The election is over. The votes are in and Obama is our president. I will say I wasn't really entirely impressed with either candidate, but I did vote. There are probably lots of idiots who voted on both sides. I'm sure there were people who voted simply to see an African American in the White House in their lifetime. I'm sure there were people who voted to see the first female Vice President in the White House in their lifetime. And of course there are people who voted strictly one ticket or the other because that's what they've always done along with many generations before them. It is un-American to whine and moan about who was voted in because our forefathers created the election process. There is a reason we have illegal aliens...this is an awesome place to live! Obama may be a horrible president. If he is then we'll figure that out before four years is out hopefully. As far as I am concerned we are and will always be the greatest country in the world. But this is a time that is critical that we work together as a nation. We're so caught up in partisanship that we can't see straight. This is not a time to split hairs over politics. Our country was founded so that we could practice our beliefs without fear of tyranny. I know I haven't been here long but it hurts my heart to see the way people argue over individual freedom. And this isn't a slap against anyone at all. I just think we need to deal with things in the here and now and not bicker over who is right and who is wrong. That is subjective. In the time you spend discussing your political views you could be focusing on the next election and helping out that campaign. You could be helping the homeless or working for a food-drive. In the time I've typed this I could have looked up the Feed the Children Foundation and made a pledge. Which is something I will do before I forget. Life is too short for so much negativity. I think Sarah Palin has a promising future in politics. I think the President-Elect has the same even if he only lasts four years. I think John McCain is a decent and patriotic person who didn't have enough personality to carry him through. Everyone has gifts and talents. Everyone deserves to be given the benefit of the doubt. I know I would want that. In short...let it go. That's all.

She said she was sure that God got Bush elected. I agree....he got Bush elected so that the people that voted for him would finally wake up and realize that what a total blunder they made and to NEVER make the same mistake again. I hope they got God's message.

I have pretty strong core beliefs and look to change no one who is equaly convicted in the things they believe in. I have had a long jounrey to arrive in my convictions. When my youngest son was about 5, we passed a cemetery. He said, "mom, is that heaven?". I said no hoiney. That is a cemetery, when people die, that is a special place where there family can go to remember them, they are burined there." He said, "well, I thought you said we go to heaven?" That little kiddo never asked simple questions. It was the first time I had to try to explain the difference between the body and the spirit. This past election night was good evidence of the difference as the spirit of America was so seperate from the body, The color of our skin, the color of our hair or our age. we lifted our arms but it was our spirit that was touched.

If Palin had been elected it would have been for other reasons. Now that the door has been opened to the most qualified, she will be remembered as a one hit wonder. It is unfortunate that she didn't hold off until she had more experience, because over time, she will just just become a more distorted characture. Her credentials did not match her ego. Here's something that you'll just love Wolf. You like Palin for all the same reasons you don't like me. Like it or not, Sarah Palin and I have the same birthday. Youhate my moxi and love hers. You hate my big fat arrogant mouth and love hers. You tell me I don't know what I'm talking about and rave about how brilliant she is. You admire her for having a special needs child that she hasn't spent an hour with since the campaign started and hate me for going to work and taking care of special needs kids five days a week. I think it's funny that you view two Aquarians so differnently. If you thinkI'm a bitch, Sarah Palin would drive her spiked heel right into your forehead to get to the stage.
